Caught Slacking

Terms of service

Nutzungsbedingungen · Last updated: 25 October 2026

In short

Viewing and searching your Slack export is free. Saving it as PDF needs a one-time license. Your export file stays on your device. Licenses are sold by Stripe, which is the seller and handles payment, taxes, invoices and refunds. The rest of this page spells that out.

1. Who provides the service

Caught Slacking (the "Service") is a website and browser application provided by Berk Buturak, Schellenstraße 16, 31812 Bad Pyrmont, Germany ("we"). You can reach us at berkbuturak@gmail.com. These terms apply to your use of the Service. By using it, you agree to them. See also the Impressum and the privacy policy.

2. What the service does

The Service lets you open a Slack export .zip file in your browser to browse, search and print its conversations. The file is read and processed on your own device and is not uploaded to us or to anyone else. Viewing and searching are free. Saving conversations or search results as PDF requires a license (section 4).

3. Buying a license

Licenses are sold through Stripe. Stripe, acting through its Link service, is the seller (merchant of record) of the license. The purchase contract is between you and Stripe, and Stripe's terms of sale, pricing, taxes, invoicing and refund handling apply to the purchase. The price shown on the Service includes VAT where applicable, and Stripe may display it in your local currency. For questions about a payment, receipt or refund, contact Link support or us, and we will help where we can. Your statutory rights as a consumer, including any right of withdrawal, are not affected by these terms.

4. Your license

A license is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the PDF export feature of the Service, in the browsers and on the devices you use, for export files you are entitled to access, for as long as we offer the Service. Your license key is the identifier of your Stripe checkout, shown to you after payment. Keep it safe: anyone who has the key can activate PDF export. You may not share, publish, sell or otherwise pass on the key. If a purchase is refunded or reversed, the license ends.

5. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the export files you open and for what you do with the output. In particular, you must be entitled to access the export, and you must respect the privacy of the people whose messages it contains as well as any obligations toward your employer or organisation. The Service may not be used to break the law. Because the file never leaves your device, we cannot see, filter or recover its contents.

6. Availability and changes

We may change, improve or discontinue the Service or parts of it at any time. We try to keep the Service and the license check available, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. PDF export uses your browser's print function, so its output depends on your browser and print settings. If we discontinue the license check permanently, we will announce it on this website in advance where reasonably possible.

7. Warranty and liability

The free parts of the Service are provided as they are. For the paid license, statutory warranty rights apply. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations, meaning obligations whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely, and then only for foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Any further liability is excluded. This does not affect claims you may have against Stripe as the seller.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, its code and its design are protected by copyright and remain ours or our licensors'. Your Slack export and the PDFs you create from it remain yours. Caught Slacking is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Slack Technologies, LLC. Slack is a trademark of Slack Technologies, LLC.

9. Governing law and disputes

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you habitually reside. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the Service or the law changes. The current version is always published here with its date. Changes do not affect licenses already purchased, unless they are to your advantage or required by law.
